Summer Events in Orlando

What’s happening this summer right here in Orlando? What’s going on and what’s going down? We’ve gathered together some of the highlights in our latest blog gathering the best of the summer events happening right here in Orlando.

Over at Legoland, this summer offers up Knight Lights – an event series that offers extended park hours, special LEGO light displays, the chance to meet the heroes of LEGO NEXO KNIGHTS, and the opportunity to create and play with master builders.

LEGO Knight Lights are July 1-2, 4, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, 29-30, 2017.

Over at SeaWorld Orlando you can hit up their summer event series entitled Electric Ocean. When the sun goes down, the night comes to life at SeaWorld’s new Electric Oceanspectacular. Immerse yourself in exotic worlds of light and music in this family-friendly event. With awe-inspiring lasers and nightly fireworks, Electric Ocean brings a full line-up of amazing fun to SeaWorld Orlando. Delight in extended park hours, special shows like Sea Lion Tonite, unique bioluminescent lighting and all the musical performances you could possibly wish for.  

Over at the Kennedy Space Center this summer there is a wonderful series of special events lined up to make your visit just that much better. Scattered throughout the summer you’ll find rocket launches, opportunities to meet astronauts in the daily “Astronaut Encounter,” and even the chance to board the Shuttle Launch Experience alongside a real retired astronaut in their “Fly With An Astronaut” series!

There’s also the CAHMN Festival on June 25th at the Fashion Square Mall. It celebrates Caribbean American Heritage Month and promises to be a great cultural event for attendees of all ages to enjoy.You’ll have the chance to sample Trinidadian, Guyanese, Jamaican and Haitian food before rocking out to music from the islands of Grenada, St. Lucia and the Bahamas.There will be an opportunity to taste the fermented flavors of Caribbean beers like Prestige, Kalik, Red Stripe, Banks, Carib and Presidente.

Wrapping up our list of summer events in Orlando, check out the Orlando Food Truck Bazaar. The original traveling food truck event in the U.S., the Food Truck Bazaar generally features 10-15 mobile eateries serving up gourmet food, ethnic dishes, and good old-fashioned BBQ. It’s recommended that you save room for dessert and bring something to sit on (because the event typically takes place in a parking lot). The Food Truck Bazaar is free to attend, but food is separately priced.

Father’s Day in Orlando 2017

Whether you’re a new dad, an older dad or planning something for the favorite dad in your life, you’ll want to know what’s going on in Orlando for Father’s Day. We’ve got the scoop!

Head to Universal Orlando Resort to see The Blue Man Group. They’re a scream for the whole family and totally unique. Comedy and tech blends perfectly with percussion, mime and live music. If you want to make it extra special for Dad, treat him to a VIP Experience, which features a backstage tour, a souvenir program and VIP lanyard, popcorn and soda, merchandise discount and an exclusive private meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with a Blue Man after the show.

Does Dad like star-gazing? Then he’ll love coming face to face with a real life astronaut at Kennedy Space Center. Fly With An Astronaut takes you on a half day guided tour of Kennedy Space Center with an experienced space explorer. The half day program will showcase the iconic sites of Kennedy Space Center by motor coach. Tour Space Shuttle Atlantis and blast off on the Shuttle Launch Experience. The tour includes lunch served in the LC-39 Observation Gantry in the heart of historic Launch Complex 39. The NASA astronaut visiting on June 17th and 18th 2017 is Jon McBride. Jon McBride served as the pilot of STS-41G aboard space shuttle Challenger and is a former naval aviator who has logged more than 8,800 total flight hours and 4,700 hours in jets.

There’s still plenty to do in Orlando on Father’s Day. If Dad’s a bit of an adventurer, he’ll love Orlando Tree Trek. Dad can climb free on Father’s Day with the purchase of two regular tickets. This exciting aerial adventure includes six different color coded courses, 97 challenging elements and two giant 425′ zip lines. Lots of fun for the whole family. There are kids tickets for ages 7 – 11, junior tickets for 9+ and adults tickets for 12+.

Finally, you can also check out the SAK Comedy Lab. It’s an annual tradition to give Dad a free show at SAK Comedy Lab on Father’s Day. An ensemble of improv actors have been entertaining audiences in Orlando since 1991. It’s usually a sell out show, so do get tickets in advance.
