It’s no secret that we think Orlando is one of the best cities in the world. This counts double in spring because we’re lucky to be able to go outside, enjoy the mild weather, and pick out seasonal fruits and veggies that are at the peak of freshness!
The Orlando Farmer’s Market at Lake Eola is our favorite place to go in spring because (1) it’s open almost every Sunday, (2) it’s got a great location, and (3) it’s more than the average farmer’s market. You can definitely expect fresh produce from vendors that truly care about their farms, as well as a large selection of indoor and outdoor plants. If you start feeling hungry (which you probably will considering all of the amazing smells), you can sample some of the best food in Central Florida. Brownies, kettle corn, gourmet sandwiches – you name it – the Orlando Farmer’s Market has it all. And don’t worry, Fido won’t feel left out if you bring him or her along. There are plenty of booths that feature homemade pet treats, supplies, and accessories that’ll get their tails wagging.
Ready for a quick history lesson? The market started off in 1987 as a central location to provide a convenient shopping opportunity for residents that lived in the Downtown area. The original location was actually not at Lake Eola, but in a high-traffic area under the 1-4 across from Church Street Station. The market continues to grow to this day and is getting ready to celebrate it’s 30th year!
