Orlando Farmer’s Market

It’s no secret that we think Orlando is one of the best cities in the world. This counts double in spring because we’re lucky to be able to go outside, enjoy the mild weather, and pick out seasonal fruits and veggies that are at the peak of freshness!

The Orlando Farmer’s Market at Lake Eola is our favorite place to go in spring because (1) it’s open almost every Sunday, (2) it’s got a great location, and (3) it’s more than the average farmer’s market. You can definitely expect fresh produce from vendors that truly care about their farms, as well as a large selection of indoor and outdoor plants. If you start feeling hungry (which you probably will considering all of the amazing smells), you can sample some of the best food in Central Florida. Brownies, kettle corn, gourmet sandwiches – you name it – the Orlando Farmer’s Market has it all. And don’t worry, Fido won’t feel left out if you bring him or her along. There are plenty of booths that feature homemade pet treats, supplies, and accessories that’ll get their tails wagging.

Ready for a quick history lesson? The market started off in 1987 as a central location to provide a convenient shopping opportunity for residents that lived in the Downtown area. The original location was actually not at Lake Eola, but in a high-traffic area under the 1-4 across from Church Street Station. The market continues to grow to this day and is getting ready to celebrate it’s 30th year!

Now you might be wondering what produce you should be on the lookout for in March/April and you’re in luck! Why? We found this super helpful list of 26 Fresh Fruits and Vegetables in Season Now in Florida. Armed with this guide, you’ll be ready to grab the best of what the Orlando Farmer’s Market has to offer. Happy shopping!

First Day of Spring

Even though we all know winter doesn’t get that crazy when you’re living in Orlando, there’s still something exciting about the First Day of Spring! Flowers are blooming all around and there’s a fresh wave of excitement coursing through the city – all of which makes us want to get outside and explore. With that in mind, we’ve taken the liberty to point out a few of our favorite spring events in Orlando.

If you’re feeling artsy all of a sudden, the Sanford Art Walk is there for you every third Saturday of the month. Come down to historic Downtown Sanford on the 19th from 6-9pm and enjoy plenty of participating galleries that feature unique works of art. As you stroll through the beautiful city, enjoy our mild weather and make sure to stop by local retail shops, pubs, and boutiques!

An Orlando tradition for the 27th year, the Daytona Turkey Run is a must! March 25th-27th, car show participants will meet inside the International Speedway and show off their best. This year, expect to see more than 6,000 collector cars and trucks. Once you’re done exploring, make sure you stick around for the grand finale around 3pm on Sunday – all of the cars are taking an organized lap around the speedway. Even if you’re not a classic car fan, you’ll enjoy the large Artisan Alley, with plenty of of art, fashion, great food, and entertainment.

Both of these March events are perfect for exposing yourself to Orlando’s rich culture. Whether you’re in the mood for a casual evening stroll through local galleries or a full day under the sun at the speedway, there’s always something fun to do this time of year! The best part? Summer is just around the corner and the best is yet to come.
