Orlando has a thriving art scene with opportunities to view work by contemporary, local and international artists as well as works from antiquity. Residents of Altis Sand Lake Apartments live in close proximity to the city’s many museums and venues featuring not only art exhibitions, but events and programs that encourage active involvement in the art community.
Start your tour of Orlando’s art at the Downtown Information Center where you can find out about the best places to shop and dine, as well as upcoming events in Orlando. While you are there, check out the work of local photographer Jason Fronczek.
The Orlando Museum of Art features the works of local, regional, national and international artists. Experience exhibitions like the art behind graphic novels, or the sculpture plaza. The museum also hosts special events like yoga in the galleries, or story time for kids in the galleries. Visitors can also participate in hands-on workshops and create art to take home! Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders can take advantage of one free general admission on “Museum on Us” days.
The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum features the most extensive collection of the works of Louis Comfort Tiffany. It is also home to a major collection of American pottery, and 19th and 20th century paintings, graphics and decorative arts.
Located on the campus of Rollins College, Cornell Fine Arts Museum is the only teaching museum in the greater Orlando area. The museum features works from all time periods and has the only collection of the works of European Old Masters in the Orlando area. Kids can take tours or watch films just for them, or participate in a hands-on art making experience. Adults can take the museum’s happy hour tour on the first Wednesday of each month.
